What is in each list

Every entry gives you four things: how many people can play, how long it takes, a two-sentence summary of what you are trying to do, and a link to the rules. The lists are hand-checked against Pagat, BoardGameGeek and published rulebooks, and they are refreshed when new games appear.

Traditional games with regional variants get the most common form, with a note where the rules differ. Expansions sit under their base game so the lists stay usable rather than padded.

About the index

How many card games are on this site?

117 so far, spread across 4 letters. The aim is a full A–Z index, one letter at a time, with every entry checked against a published rule set.

Which letter has the most card games?

S currently has the longest list, with 35 games — partly because so many trick-taking and climbing games start with it, and partly because it is where we have done the most research.

Are you adding the rest of the alphabet?

Yes. Letters are added in order of search demand, so the lists people look for most appear first. If a letter you need is missing, email us and it moves up the queue.

How do you decide what counts as a card game?

The game has to be played primarily with cards and have a rule set you can actually look up. Board games that happen to contain cards, tile games and video games are left out, with rare exceptions for digital card games that play like the tabletop version.
